It also showed that during this time period in society; personality, played a great role in people's life, and regulations system. The Stranger also arises the ideas of Existentialism, and Absurdism that begin to arise, of these severe times of war.
The Stranger, reflects how the Algerian culture, manifested much racism, need for sociable norm, and the fact that through the times of World Warfare II, a great percentage of the contemporary society in Algeria purchased a pessimistic feeling on life.
This leading for most to believe, such as Camus, that life was meaningless and absurd. In Junethe French military begins the invasion of Algiers.
They begin their colonization with faith. Christianity came along with the colonization of Algeria.
During these years the populace of Algeria was around four million inhabitants, and about three million were Muslims. InAbd-el-Kader, lady commander of metropolis of Mascara, Algeria, proclaimed a holy battle resistant to the Europeans, and their religion of Christianity.
This holy warfare lasted up until the entire year ofwhere Abd-el-Kader finally surrenders. Through the years from to midth century, the Muslim people rises from three million to nine million.

Then this is excatly why it involves believe why Arabs became such a major aim for for major racism in French-Algeria. One considers an example of this in The Stranger. Meursault, the key character of the story, becomes befriended by his neighbor Raymond Sintes.

The Plague by Albert Camus Albert Camus' The Plague, takes place in the desert town of Oran, Algeria, in northern Africa. It is the perfect setting for this story to take place. The ordinariness of Oran is contrasted with the extraordinary business of the plague. Introduction. Philosophical interest in beauty began with the earliest recorded philosophers. Beauty was deemed to be an essential ingredient in a good life and so what it was, where it was to be found, and how it was to be included in a life were prime considerations.
Raymond is known as to be always a man that lives of women. Meaning that he solicits customers for a prostitute. We become familiar with more about Raymond, when he invites Meursault over, and Raymond declares himself, Meursault's pal, leading him to start about his current mistress, who's an Arab women.
Of these times Arabs, weren't given any of the high paying careers, and were obligated to become farmers, one of the cheapest paying jobs in Algeria. Raymond then would go to Meursault for advice on what to do, because he has found out his mistress has cheated on him. Raymond chooses that he must coach his mistress a lesson, and decides to possess sexual activity with her then by the end, spit in her face and toss her away.
Raymond then proceeds to get this done, and ends up badly beating up this female.
A policeman turns up, and just delivers the lady home, and says Raymond he will be summoned to the police station. Raymond then proceeds to see Meursault to act as a see, and declare that Raymond overcome this gal because she was cheating on him.
When Meursault will this, Raymond just gets off with a warning. They didn't check my assertion. Down the road in the storyplot we get the the part when Meursault eliminates an Arab.
At first no-one becomes intrigued by his circumstance, making it show up as it was a normal crime, to travel aound killing Arabs. During this time around in society, identity enjoyed a great part in regulations system. We see an example of this within the Stranger when Meursault kills an Arab.
Meursault then becomes placed into trial, but through the complete trial it revolves around his insensibility towards his mother's loss of life. The prosecutor for his trial just accuses him for the things he have, and the thoughts he previously towards his mothers death, and in no time even attempting to mention the true reason of his trial, which was his murder associated with an Arab man.
I have nothing at all further to day. Here again racism comes and shows itslef as the jury of the courtroom, who have really no curiosity about the killing of Arab man, but instead are centered in this man's personal life, and are quite intrigued by his immoral character that lacks the common Christianity idea, and thoughts that they believe that is just what a "right" man in their modern culture should display.
